Trivia
In the 18th Century cream, milk, and egg yolks began to feature in the recipes, resulting in ice cream in the modern sense of the word. 1768 saw the publication of L'Art de Bien Faire les Glaces d'Office - a cookbook devoted entirely to recipes for flavoured ices and ice cream.
The ice cream cone was invented in 1896 by an Italian named Italio Marchiony, who sold ice cream from a cart in New York. Customers kept breaking or wandering off with his serving glasses so he decided to make edible waffle cups with sloping sides and a flat bottom.
