BORN, BRED AND FROZEN IN THE SOUTH WEST
“You
would have to be Irish to set up an ice-cream shop in the middle
of the bush”. This is what the locals said when Garth and
his father Gordon Simpson set up the original Simmo’s Ice
Creamery in 1993 on the outskirts of Dunsborough, Western Australia.
Located in a rural setting
just minutes from the coastal town of Dunsborough, Simmo’s
Icecreamery and Fun Park has become one of those places people
put on their “must go to” list when visiting the Margaret
River region, welcoming over 1,000 visitors a day during summer.
Now with stores in Dunsborough, Mandurah and Margaret River, Simmo’s
tempts icecream addicts with a rich, creamy, high quality ice cream
made from our delicious south-west local produce which they won’t
find elsewhere.
Fresh milk and cream are delivered from the dairy every morning,
then pasteurized with eggs, sugar and a few secret ingredients.
You can’t get much fresher than that.
From a list of about 100 different flavours, 39 are on display daily
at all 3 stores.
Two of the all time favourites are prune soaked in whiskey blended
with mascapone cheese, added to a rich vanilla ice cream and the
other is our Gold Medal winner - Strawberry Cointreau Cheesecake
made from fresh strawberries, soaked in Cointreau, cheese and ribbons
of thick chocolate. It’s a beauty.!
In the last 10 years Simmo’s is the proud winner of some 62
Silver and 9 Gold. Last year we won Champion Vanilla Ice Cream
at the WA Diary Industry Association Awards and in 2006 we won the Grand Champion Ice Cream at Perth Royal Show with Coffee Crunch. Just shows what a small producer can acheive!
“I love what I do and I hope it reflects in my product”.
Garth Simpson, Irish Icecream Guru
But it’s not just about seriously awesome icecream…..
