Trivia

There are several theories on when the first ice cream appeared.

One credits the first frozen dessert to Emperor Nero of Rome. It was a mixture of snow (which he sent his slaves into the mountains to retrieve) and nectar, fruit pulp and honey.

Another is that ice cream was introduced to Europe by Marco Polo in the 13th century from the Far East where water ices were said to have been eaten for thousands of years.

Yet another tells of a sumptuous state banquet hosted by Charles I of England (1600-1649) for many of his friends and family. The meal consisted of many delicacies of the day, but the "coup de grace" was a dessert presented  by the French chef. It was cold and resembled fresh- fallen snow but was much creamier and sweeter than any other after- dinner dessert.

Giant Ludo

Giant Ludo is great fun for all ages. It can be played in teams or as individuals using the giant foam playing counters. Form a block for other players by landing two members of your team on the same space. Send your opponents back to base by landing on the same space as them. Giant Ludo is a tactical game full of rivalry and is an ideal outdoor game.

Giant Snakes and Ladders

A giant version of this well-known family game. Players physically move around the board when the huge inflatable dice is thrown. The winner is the first to move from one corner to the opposite. A few twists on the original rules result in even more fun and laughter!

Twister

There's massive fun to be had with this giant party game for 2+ players. Throw the two giant inflatable dice to find out which part of your body you have to place on which colour flower. Get knotted up with other players to make the game more difficult for them. But beware, fall over and you're out of the game.

Tower Blocks

See who has the best nerves and steadiest hand as you build the tower higher and higher. The aim of the game is for players to take turns in removing a single block from the tower and placing the block on the highest row without the tower collapsing.

Pick up Sticks

You need the steadiest of hands to succeed in this game of daring tension. Try to remove each stick in turn without moving any of the others.

Silly Family Game

Act and look a little silly as you compete in this new racing game. Throw the giant inflatable dice to find out how many spaces and in what silly style to move. Leapfrog, wheelbarrow, hop or forward roll around the course to race to the end. Played as individuals or as a relay race in teams.

Horseshoes

Simple throwing game that involves two target stakes and a pair of horseshoes. Compete to get your shoe around or as close to the stakes as possible. Cancel your opponents score by matching their throw.

On Target

On Target uses three traditonal frisbee style flying discs and adds skill with a target to aim for. Players take turns to throw the 3 discs from a distance, aiming to land them on the large 3m diameter target mat. Points are scored according to which ring of the target your discs land on.

Boules

Boules or Petanque, this French favourite is a perfect family game.
Place the jack and then compete to get your Boules as close as possible by throwing the balls in an underarm motion.

Kubb

Kubb is an outdoor game where the object is to knock over wooden blocks by throwing wooden sticks at them. The word "Kubb" [pron. koob] means "wooden block" in the Gotland dialect of Swedish. Kubb can be quickly described as a combination of bowling, horseshoes, and chess.
